U Mumba TT play their final tie of the league stage when they take on Goa Challengers in Tie 12 of Ultimate Table Tennis Season 3 at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi.

U Mumba sit comfortably at the top of the table with 3 wins in four ties, racking up 33 game-wins. The Challengers on the other hand have played a tie less and are also in a comfortable spot in third with 26 wins.

With qualification all but assured, both teams will be expected to play the best version of TT they can offer without any pressure or shackles.

The young U Mumba side have shown that they can overcome experience with sheer determination to win, as the youngest side in the UTT were also the first to qualify, riding on incredible performances by Captain Manav Thakkar, who was ably aided by Sutirtha Mukherjee, Doo Hoi Kem and Kirill Gerassimenko. The team backed each other, stepping in for one another whenever the chips were down and now have a chance to stamp their dominance by finishing the league stage on a high.

The Challengers began their campaign with the biggest win of Season 3, and have been dominant even in their loss, and in just three games are on third place due to these efforts.

Archana Kamath has led from the front, registering victories over whoever she has come up against in the women’s singles. Alvaro Robles will have his confidence boosted too, with a win over Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, handing him his first defeat.

It remains to be seen whether Chinese-Taipei sensation Cheng I-Ching will be available for selection after a recent illness, but the Challengers did not let that affect them in their previous outing and showed no weakness in their previous tie.
