Third-placed Chennai Lions take on fourth-placed Dabang Delhi T.T.C. for a battle for second place in the UTT table when they take on each other in the final tie of the league stage, at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi.
Both teams have been part of a topsy-turvy table-ride but found themselves in the top four after RP-SG Mavericks and Puneri Paltan Table Tennis bowed out of the competition.
Chennai Lions have fared better, having won three ties out of four, compared to Dabang Delhi’s two, but the two wins have been by large margins, hence separating them by two points.
Sharath Kamal and his team have come to the fore after their loss in their first tie and have not lost a game since. Petrissa Solja, Madhurika Patkar and Tiago Apolonia have all contributed to the cause and hence have found them in this comfortable position. Sharath also treated fans to a shot of a lifetime with a 360 backhand return and is sure to be buzzing with confidence.
Dabang Delhi bounced back after their loss to Goa Challengers with a win over the Mavericks in their previous outing. That was enough to get them into the top four, and they will play with a more relaxed disposition that they are capable of. Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Bernadette Szocs, Jon Persson and Krittwika Sinha Roy have the quality amongst them to churn out a positive result.
