In a battle of old vs new, RP-SG Mavericks Kolkata take on debutants Goa Challengers in Tie 3 of UTT Season 3.

The Challengers believe they have the best team on paper and would be eager to prove that in practice when they step out tonight at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi to take on one of UTT’s mainstays.

The Mavericks, led by Season 2 champion Manika Batra, have three finalists from the previous season, with Matilda Ekholm and Sanil Shetty joining the captain. They are complemented by Benedikt Duda, who will be making his UTT debut, to complete the senior player set-up. The Mavericks have never made it to the finals, and they would want to start on a winning note and go all the way.

Fans would be eager to watch Cheng I-Ching in action for the first time tonight as she turns out for the Challengers, either to take on Manika or Matilda. Goa also have India’s domestically ranked no. 1, Archana Kamath, who is equally lethal on her day. Today’s tie will be a heated contest in the women’s category. Current Commonwealth Men’s Doubles champion Amalraj Anthony and Alvaro Robles will also be expected to be seen in action for Goa.
