Representing DHFL Maharashtra United in the inaugural edition of CEAT UTT, Harmeet Desai caught plenty of attention with some impactful performances for his team in the Singles and Mixed Doubles category. We caught up with the Surat paddler during his time in the tournament and he revealed the inspiration behind his favourite sport by saying that his father was the main reason why he chose to play table tennis.
Unlike many other sports, table tennis demands more on the mental side and Desai says that he always enjoyed learning the different factors involved in the sport, “With so many different types of spins and speed, it is a combination of power and brain and also a combination of agility and endurance. It always makes you hungry to learn new skills and techniques”.
The talented Indian also advised the youngsters to follow their heart in order to achieve their goals, “I think that one must follow their heart in any field they choose and work towards their dream with dedication, determination, and hard work. It will definitely help them to achieve their goals.”
He continued by saying, “Table tennis is a great teacher. It makes you stronger to deal with any problem in life. It helps you to be humble when you are successful, and also to keep your head held high when you go through tough times. It’s a perfect teacher of life and makes you physically fit.”
