Goa, July 13, 2026: Ahmedabad APL Pipers will look to continue their encouraging start to Butterfly Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 7 powered by ChatGPT when they take on UP Prometheans in the lone tie of Matchday 6 on Tuesday.

The Pipers have impressed despite contrasting results in their opening two outings, defeating reigning champions U Mumba TT before narrowly falling 8-7 to Dempo Goa Challengers–in a tie they were trailing 6-0–while UP will be desperate to open their account after successive defeats.

Staged under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani, Butterfly UTT Season 7 features 42 players from around the world, including 14 Olympians, while continuing to strengthen the Indian table tennis ecosystem through elite competition and year-round development initiatives.

After upsetting reigning champions U Mumba TT on debut, Ahmedabad APL Pipers pushed defending champions Dempo Goa Challengers all the way in a narrow 8-7 defeat, underlining the depth of their squad. Manika Batra remains the marquee attraction and will be eager to put her back-to-back defeats behind her, while three-time European champion Sofia Polcanova has already picked up a commanding singles win.

Belgium's Adrien Rassenfosse adds further experience, and Payas Jain has been among the revelations of the opening week, registering his maiden victory over reigning champion Manush Shah after also starring in Ahmedabad's mixed doubles success.

UP Prometheans, meanwhile, will be eager to translate encouraging performances into their first win of the season. Manav Thakkar opened his campaign with an impressive victory over Youssef Abdelaziz, Ricardo Walther defeated Omar Assar in his most recent outing, and Sayali Wani impressed with a hard-fought win over Divyanshi Bhowmick against Dabang Delhi TTC.

Despite narrow defeats in both ties, the Prometheans possess one of the league's strongest line-ups, led by two-time Butterfly UTT MVP Yangzi Liu, and will believe they have the quality to climb the standings.
